twURL Screenshot
twURL at work showing 727 URLs organized by Internet domains, drilled
down to .edu, and then gwu.edu. Checked nodes are one way of filtering
or collecting certain interesting URLs from the outline. Top toolbar provides:
different views of URLs (one-line, details, graphic, grid), sorting, up/down
moement, decisions, and switches to views and reports. The bottom toolbar
offers cluster operations and choices of which URLs to views. Clusters
are groups of URLs associated with the node (and sub-nodes) any point in
the tree.
Other Interfaces
-
Keywords in a vocabulary called "Infowar". Keywords
are user-defined including from the HTML Meta of web pages. A keyword match
includes significant content: title, meta, 1st 500 words, and headings,
rather than the whole page.
-
More domains at the top level.
-
Two views created from URLs using counting and analysis: Number
of links into and from each URL and Top 10
for URLs and sites counting links in and links from.
-
Graphical view of the top level of domains in this collection: by Pie
Chart and by Bar Chart.
-
Grid views of a cluster of URLs: attribute
information (title, keywords, meta) and metrics
(# links in, # links from, ...). Other grid views include linked URLs,
keywords, and search engines.
-
Part of tree showing ratings assigned to URLs:
lock - great, the best; clip = good, should be viewed; question=not sure
yet; trash = time to go.
-
Full-screen browsing in context, showing
a web page displayed to the left with details about the web page in twURL
at the right. Clicking the up or down arrows goes to the next URL in the
tree and feeds that url into the browser. Decisions may be recorded at
the top using the lock, clip, question, and trash buttons.
